A Trip to the Farm

I grew up in a teeny tiny town in the Midwest.  It cracks me up when I people say, "I grew up in a small town" and I ask them "how small" and they say, "30,000."  That makes 1,200 seem extra, extra teeny tiny if 30,000 is considered small!  ;)

We headed back there a month or so again, and OH how much fun we had!  I do a small number of mini-portrait sessions when I'm home, and it's always fun working with people that I grew up with.

Miles is an old pro on the farm already, and Avah quickly became one.  She was obsessed with feeding the "neighs" apples.  It was the first word that came out of her mouth the second she woke up... "I want NEIGH!" And I bet the horses loved my kiddos as much as they loved the horses because my kiddos fed them so many yummy apples from the tree and corn from the garden.

Here is a little glimpse into our trek there.  We can't wait to go back in the spring!!  (As I'm typing this, Avah is sitting on my lap saying, "HI NEIGH!  HI NEIGH!" to the computer screen as she sees these pictures.)

I'm Baaaaack... Well, For a Minute At Least.

Sorry I've been a little MIA on the blog lately.  We took our family vacation to Colorado.  It was supposed to happen in July, but was postponed due to Miles getting really sick the morning we were supposed to fly, and then the kids and I have been battling sickness ever since.

It was a great trip, and a great 4.5 days away from to-do lists, computers, traffic, and work schedules.

We got back, and in a matter of days, accomplished many things that included a visit from my in-laws, Miles' 4th birthday party, a newborn ordering session, family session, newborn session, and much more.  And coming soon, the kids and I are flying to the Midwest for several days to visit my sweet family and play on the farm. And to do some family mini-sessions while I'm there.

The non-stop busy Fall portrait season seems to have started in August, but I'm gearing up and looking forward to working with many adorable families this fall!

Speaking of... If you're thinking of booking a portrait session for sometime in 2013, NOW is definitely the time, as I have limited openings left (especially on weekends).  For a fall session, you definitely don't want to wait until the last minute.  (Especially for newborn sessions.)

You can find details about my Fall/Holiday Mini-Session Specials by clicking here.  I have a few mini-session spots left, and a handful of full sessions for Fall 2013.

If you're wanting to book a full family or newborn session, please contact me for pricing info.

Iowa Mini Sessions - October 2012

I am so looking forward to my annual Iowa mini-sessions, and some nice, cool fall weather!  It is always good to get back to where I grew up... with camera and kiddos in tow.  Miles asks me every day, "How can we get to Iowa??  Is our plane ready yet?  Is it October yet?"  :)

Iowa Friends: I will only be doing 6-8 mini-sessions total, so email me to set up your session.  I can't wait to capture sweet moments for your families.  Just in time for holiday cards and photo gifts for your loved ones!  Please email me and I will send session times and pricing your way.  milesofsmilesphotography@yahoo.com

Iowa Mini-Sessions: The VIDEO {Austin and Iowa Family Photographer}

Miles and I had such an incredible time visiting Iowa earlier this month and starting my annual tradition of fall mini-sessions there!  It wasn't all work and no play... There was certainly a lot of playing that we did on the farm!  Such a lovely time of year there, too.

Here is a little video I made summarizing our trip.  Enjoy all of the beautiful families and children.  How lucky am I that "work trips" involve all of these beauties?!  Can't wait for fall 2012 Iowa mini-sessions!

The P Family - Iowa Mini-Sessions

I love love.  I love watching a couple in love get married.  And then have a baby.  And then continue to expand their family.

I had the pleasure of meeting this couple in college way back when at Iowa State University, and it has been fun to watch their sweet family grow.  Enjoy!

Iowa Mini-Sessions - The F Family

Part II of the Iowa Mini-Sessions!

I used to sit next to Jen in band... 15 years ago!  It was so fun seeing her again and meeting her beautiful family.  These kiddos were so well behaved, and made my job that morning SO much fun.  Enjoy!

Iowa Mini-Sessions - The C Family

Miles and I SO enjoyed a trip back to Iowa last week!!  Not only did we get to visit all of my Iowa family, but I also enjoyed doing 7 photo shoots while there.  Words cannot describe how beautiful Iowa is in the fall.  The trees are popping with color, the weather is crisp and cool (very unlike the Texas weather we've had since April!), the farmers are out harvesting their crops, and the sunsets are incredible.  (Let's just say I LOVE Iowa in the fall.  Don't ask me in the winter season, though.)  :)

I enjoyed working with the C Family for this mini-session last week.  Their little two year old boy was just a joy to work with, and had so many fun expressions to capture on camera.  You could tell his parents were wild about him and vice versa.  Enjoy these sneak peeks!
