A Little Miles of Smiles Photography Love from the M Family... {Austin Family Photographer}

Can I just tell you how incredibly lucky I feel to get to do what I do with photography?  The whole reason I started this business almost two years ago was to have more time with my children, to exercise my creativity through the images I create, and to get to work with wonderful people.  Running a business is a lot of work, but the rewards are. just. incredible. 

Yesterday was one of those days where everything just clicked.  I enjoyed so many sweet cuddles with my kids, I fit in an amazing workout (my muscles are feeling that one today!), I was checking things off of my work to-do-list, processing client orders, and just movin' and groovin' in my home office.  And then, right before going to bed, I got this email from one of my amazing clients.  It literally brought tears of joy to my eyes because it reconfirmed exactly why I do what I do.  I want to create an experience for my clients... one where they are involved and informed from start to finish.  One where they feel well taken care of from the very first contact they have with me over the phone.  One where they want to come back again.  The M family session goes down in the books as one of my favorites.  Here is what they had to say...

"I had heard about Miles of Smiles photography through my neighborhood newsletter.  I had been wanting to get a private photographer for pictures of my baby girl turning 1 and a few family photos.  

I am SO glad that I chose Sarah!  She was very professional through the whole process.  She was always very quick returning emails with questions that I had.  She gave me detailed information on what to expect from the shoot and kept me in on the process from beginning to end.

"I received a gift card for a photo session with Miles of Smiles photography at my baby shower. This was such a creative and thoughtful gift, I would recommend the same if you are hosting a baby shower! 

Sarah was so wonderful to work with even from the start. She was very easy to schedule a session with, had amazing information on her website about props, clothing choices, FAQ, and had a great pre-session questionnaire to insure our session was perfect for us. 

The session itself was wonderful. She had the perfect spot picked out and brought everything we could have needed. Our daughter loved her and as a result we got pictures that we will always treasure. I loved that she worked so well with children (even bringing an adorable camera animal to make Caroline smile) and made the session unique to us.

She got our images back to us within a week, wrapped in adorable paper just like the gift they were. Her attention to detail is remarkable and we could not have loved our session more. Surprise on My Doorstep

I have to tell you, this dream of photography... the art form that it is... the incredible people I get to work with... It is all a bit of a dream sometimes.  (Although days like today when I'm working most of a Sunday doing "on the business" stuff and year-end things and a huge stack of receipts brings me back to a reality... a great reality, but definitely a "you run your own business" reality.  If only there was one Sarah to run the business and one to shoot and edit.  :)  One day...)

The other day, I was heading out of the house for something, and on my doorstep sat a cardboard box.  I looked at it and saw it was the address of a friend and client from Iowa.  She was one of my roommates for a year in college at good ol' ISU, and I did portraits with her sweet little family during my Iowa mini-sessions last October.

I opened the box, and what did I find?  The following letter and AMAZING gift.  I was just floored with excitement and appreciation, and reminded about the daily rewards that photography has given and continues to give me.

And her timing couldn't have been better... the bag I had been using for my shoots that is similar just had a strap tear at my last session.  :)  Thanks, Jessica!  Many blessings to you and your family this year...

T is for Tiny {Austin Newborn Photographer}

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of doing "Miss A's" first photo shoot. I shot her family's Christmas photos back in November, and then her mommy's maternity shoot in December.

Naturally, I was very excited to meet the little baby bump that I had just photographed a few weeks earlier!
