BBQ4JD Event & Bevo

I was so happy to volunteer my photography services last Friday at an event called BBQ4JD.  JD Hartman and his family are incredible, and have faced many challenges since JD had a near drowning accident 2.5 years ago.  (Click here for previous post and photo session with the Hartman family.)

To kick off my time there, I was lucky enough to get to photograph families and children along with Mr. Bevo (the Univ. of Texas Longhorn mascot!) himself!  How cool is that?!  He is quite the animal... so big, so beautiful, and so calm.

Here are a few peeks of the shots with Bevo.  Visit my "Miles of Smiles Photography by Sarah" facebook page for more shots!

Hope 4 JD - Great event Friday night!

Those of you who live in Austin and looking for a fun family event this Friday night - please check out the BBQ4JD event.

Click here to learn more about this incredible family and to see more photos from our session together.

This event is going to be great, and I will be doing family portraits (for a $10-20 donation - 100% goes to JD's recovery) there as well!  There is also a silent auction, bouncy house, activities for kids, and I have heard that BEVO the longhorn steer is coming too at some point in the evening!

Visit http://www.hope4jd.com/ and click on "EVENTS" for details and ticket info.

Affordable event.  Family fun.  For a great cause.  Does it get any better in the ATX?  See you there!

Stephanie's Maternity Shoot - Part II {Austin Maternity Photographer}

Here are a few more sweet shots from Stephanie's maternity shoot last week.

I am so excited for her baby boy to arrive in a little over a month!  What an incredibly beautiful journey motherhood is...

Stephanie's Maternity Shoot {Austin Maternity Photographer}

Stephanie and I were not only dealt a beautiful morning in a gorgeous park here in Austin, Texas... but we were especially blessed with the male peacocks around the park showing off for their lady friends!

It was wonderful seeing Stephanie for another shoot, because unlike the last time we met, she had a beautifully round baby bump for me to work with!  I always love doing fitness photography, because I have such a heart for fitness (click here) and photography... so it is the perfect mix!

Here are a few fitness/yoga shots from our day.

Pretty in Pink

These days, I live in a sea of blue. And boys. Heck... even my pets are boys! So naturally, I think I am drawn toward anything a little bit frilly and pink. Maybe that is why this flower jumps out at me so much.

I do love me some spring time!

Vibrant Colors

Have you ever been asked the question, "If you could be any animal, which one would you be and why?"

I am starting to think if I was an animal, I might just want to be a male peacock.  This morning at the park I was photographing at, the male peacocks were putting on quite a show for their ladies.  It was amazing.

The colors on these birds are my favorite colors... deep and rich teal, green, and blues... and so perfectly and intricately designed.  Here are a few of the best shots I got of the dudes strutting their stuff today.

I now know why they call it "shakin' your tailfeathers!"

INCREDIBLE Colors

I love color.  And in my mind, perhaps the most beautifully colored animal would be the male peacock.  I am around them quite often now, and simply never get over their rich and vibrant colors, and how detailed their feathers are.

Here is the Mister that greeted me this morning.  I know that this time of year is when they spread their fan of feathers, so I was hoping... just hoping that he would feel like doing so today.

He walked around for awhile, and finally, he arched his back, shook his tail feathers, and out came this incredible display of beauty.  Thank you for starting my morning off in an incredible way, Mister Peacock!

Family Photos for the C and S Families {Austin Family Photographer}

I have become quite a multitasker in my days.  I have always been an organized person, but once I got to college - I started color coding my daily planner, and the rest is history.  My jobs over the years have required me to plan 6+ months in advance, and being a mama requires me to stay pretty on top of things as well.

All of those things came in handy last Saturday when I did family photos, big family photos, and pics of the children at G's 2nd birthday party.

Here are some shots of the adults/families.

Mr. G Turns 2! {Austin Children's Photographer}

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph a 2nd birthday party and do some family photos, as a large number of people were in town for the party.  I cannot believe Mr. G is two, because that means my own little man turns two soon!  Time certainly does fly.

It was fun being part of such a great party.  And always a treat to be around these families... they are hilarious.  Here are some of the shots of the children.

There is just something about the cowboy hats that I bring in my photography bag that gets the little boys to "turn it on."  Apparently, Mr. "O" now wants a cowboy hat and boots for his birthday!

Fitness Comes in Handy with Photography!

My fitness background sure does come in handy in my photography shoots!

Especially in photographing kiddos, there are many times I am on the ground, squatting low, bending sideways, or just doing something odd to capture the perfect shot.

I laughed when I saw this picture, but realized that my fitness experiences have prepared my body for photography shoots! (Too bad they don't stop my knees from creaking when I try and get out of these positions!)  :)

Event Photography: Sharon's 50th Birthday {Austin Event Photographer}

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of providing photography for a lovely 50th birthday soiree.  It was so beautiful... the home, the view, and the guests and how much fun they had celebrating Sharon's birthday together.

I have a lot of experience planning special events... from fitness events, to staff trainings, to big campus events, to birthday parties.  But I have to say, it is so much fun not having to plan for once and just walking into something so beautifully put together and planned - and just capturing the event, fun, and love on camera for the birthday girl and her guests to enjoy.

Here are some shots from the night.  More are over at my "Miles of Smiles Photography by Sarah" facebook page.  Enjoy!

If you have a special event coming up, I would love to help you celebrate by capturing the details, fun, and guests on camera.  Please contact me for details by visiting http://www.milesofsmilesphotography.com/

Busy Friday! {Austin Maternity Photographer}

Last Friday was super busy, but fun!  I enjoyed 2 mini-shoots in the bluebonnets, taught my fitness class at Pure Austin, and then enjoyed doing a maternity shoot for a dear friend.  Followed that up with a photo shoot that I'm doing for a special project.

She is supermama, and I am so excited that not too long from now, her little girl will become a big sister to a baby boy!

Here are some of the sweet shots from our session.  I can't wait to meet baby #2!

Back to the Zoo!

Saturday, we enjoyed a family date day to the zoo.  Miles loved it, as he is very into all of his animals, their names, and the sounds they make.

Here are some fun photos from the zoo.
